Refuge Worker

Role: Domestic Violence Refuge Worker

Location: Halton

Rate: £15 UMB

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Temp - 3 months

Hours: 30 hours per week

Supporting Futures are recruiting on behalf of a well-respected charity who specialise in supporting victims of domestic abuse.

 

The role will include supporting and advocating on behalf of clients, ensuring that safeguarding is of upmost importance and that victims have access to all options/services and that they are aware of their rights.

 

Synopsis of duties:

· Supporting victims of domestic violence in a refuge setting

· Key working clients and supporting with additional complex needs: housing, benefits, financial help, social inclusion, schooling, mental health, substance misuse, NRPF, immigration and sexual abuse

· Responsible for carrying out initial assessments, risk assessments (including CAADA DASH RIC or MERIT assessments), devising support plans and liaising with appropriate agencies

· Supporting clients to complete housing and welfare benefit applications and accompanying clients to various meetings and appointments

· Signposting clients to additional services and agencies including counselling, group programmes, move-on housing, etc

· Facilitating multi-agency working including working closely with the Police, Social Services, GPs, Schools and specialist charities

· Working in partnership with other agencies and to advocate for survivors to ensure their needs are met

· Supporting clients to access the community services and facilities

 

Essential Requirements:

· Experience supporting victims of domestic violence/ single homeless client groups

. Experience of supporting clients in supported housing or a refuge setting

· Strong safeguarding and risk assessments skills and experience

· Enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months and/ or registered on the DBS Update Service
