Hours:                         37 hours per week (5 days out of 7)

Salary:                        £35,000 - £47,000pa - Enhancements for on-call and sleep-in duties

We’re proud to be recruiting on behalf of one of the UK’s leading children’s charities, currently partnering with Leicestershire County Council to increase high-quality residential provision across the region. As part of this exciting initiative, they are seeking a Deputy Manager to help lead a newly built, 3-bed Children’s Home, supporting children and young people aged 8–18.

What will you be doing?

  • This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and young people with complex needs. The Deputy Residential Manager will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the home and overseeing staff teams and rotas
  • Supervising, mentoring and developing residential staff through 1:1s, appraisals, and training
  • Ensuring compliance with OFSTED regulations and striving for excellence in care delivery
  • Working closely with the Local Authority on placement matching and care planning
  • Embedding a positive, child-centred culture focused on safety, healing, and development
  • You’ll work alongside a Registered Manager and help shape a culture that meets the complex emotional and practical needs of each child.

What are they looking for?

We’re seeking someone who is committed, empathetic, and motivated by achieving the best possible outcomes for young people. You should have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting children and young people, including at least 1 year in a senior or management role
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to coach, mentor and develop a team
  • Strong knowledge of OFSTED Quality Standards for children’s homes
  • Experience supporting young people at risk of exploitation, trauma, or complex behavioural needs
  • A proven ability to create and sustain a therapeutic, safeguarding-led culture of care
  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare - or equivalent
  • Willingness to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (if not already held)
  • Flexibility to work across a 7-day shift pattern including sleep-ins, on-call, and occasional emergency cover
