Rate of Pay:     £27,000 – 29,000pa

Duration:          Permanent

Hours:               35 hours/ Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm/4.30 pm

Hybrid:              1 day in the office/ 4 days home based with regular travel across the County

 

Supporting Futures are recruiting on behalf of an inspirational national charity who have over 50 years’ experience supporting people to rebuild their lives and empowering positive change.

They are looking for a Independent Domestic Violence Advocate to work strategically alongside the perpetrator intervention team, who will cover Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire.

The services forms part of an innovative national project that aims to improve the lives and safety of victims and children, by holding high-risk perpetrators to account. The project combines case management of perpetrators with a co-ordinated multi-agency response.

 

Synopsis of duties:

  • Proactively make contact with and provide one-to-one support to victim/survivors whose partners or ex-partners are identified as high-risk/high-harm perpetrators of domestic abuse

  • Work alongside the Perpetrator Team and partner agencies to develop and deliver coordinated intervention plans that address identified risks and needs

  • Ensure the victim/survivor voice is central, heard, and continuously represented throughout the intervention process

  • Promote understanding of the impact of abusive behaviours and contribute to strategies that reduce harm and future risk

  • Deliver core IDVA functions, including attendance at MARAC meetings, completion of regular risk assessments, and development of individualised safety and support plans

  • Support victim/survivors who are currently in, or recovering from, abusive relationships to improve safety and long-term outcomes

  • Engage with individuals experiencing complex needs, using strong case management skills and trauma-informed practice

  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team across domestic abuse, mental health, offender rehabilitation, and statutory services

  • Contribute to reducing long-term risk to current and future victim/survivors and children through consistent safety planning and advocacy

  • Support behaviour change approaches that hold perpetrators accountable while contributing to pathways away from the criminal justice system

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring, review, and evaluation of intervention outcomes

The organisation offers excellent training and development programmes (including in house IDVA accredited training) and actively work to develop and promote their staff.

The role will involve extensive travel across Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire to meet with clients and professionals and the successful candidate will need a driving license and access to a car.

  • Experience of supporting and/ or advocating on behalf of victims of domestic abuse
  • Strong working knowledge of risk management and safeguarding
  • Candidates who are passionate and committed to working within a multi-disciplinary team and will have a demonstrable track record of working with complex need service users
  • An understanding of domestic abuse and its impact, dynamics and types of abuse
  • The successful candidate will need to have driving license and access to a car
