Refuge Worker
Role: Refuge Worker
Location: Derby
Contract: Temporary 2/3 months
Pay: £13–£18 per hour (depending on pay status and experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
We are seeking a Refuge Worker to provide support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse and their children, within an accommodation setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence, conduct regular key work sessions, and maintain up-to-date case records.
- Welcome new residents, explain occupancy agreements, and develop individualized move-on strategies.
- Manage rent collection, room allocation, and ensure vacancies are re-let promptly.
- Assess risks and support needs of survivors and their children, developing and implementing individualized support and risk management plans.
- Advocate for survivors, liaise with external agencies, support access to benefits, legal protection, and address barriers for marginalized groups.
- Conducting health and safety checks within the refuge.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working in a refuge/accommodation setting
- Knowledge of domestic abuse
- Experience managing a caseload
- A knowledge of health and safety.
- Preferable - ability to speak a South Asian or Eastern European language(s)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service
