Role: Family Support Worker - Domestic Abuse Accommodation

Location: East Midlands

Hours: 37 hours per week

Hourly Rate: £14 - £18 depending on pay status

Contract: Temp to Perm

Requirement: Driver Essential

Supporting Futures are recruiting on behalf of a specialist domestic abuse charity for a Family Support Worker to provide trauma-informed, strengths-based support to women and children living within safe accommodation.

This is a varied frontline role supporting families throughout their journey towards safety and independence. You will work directly with women and children affected by domestic abuse, completing risk and needs assessments, developing individual and family safety and support plans and advocating on behalf of survivors with relevant agencies.

The role will also involve supporting children and young people to understand and process their experiences, helping mothers to understand the impact of domestic abuse on their children and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a varied caseload of women and children affected by domestic abuse
  • Completing risk and needs assessments and developing safety and support plans
  • Providing one-to-one and family-based support
  • Advocating with agencies including housing, social care, health, courts and MARAC where appropriate
  • Providing age-appropriate support to children and young people
  • Supporting women with parenting, education and accessing community services
  • Undertaking accommodation and housing management responsibilities
  • Maintaining accurate case records and contributing to service outcomes
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting women and/or children affected by domestic abuse
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults and/or children
  • A good understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on women, children and families
  • Knowledge of adult and child safeguarding
  • The ability to manage a caseload and competing priorities
  • Strong communication and multi-agency working skills
  • A sensitive, non-judgemental and survivor-centred approach
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work

Relevant safeguarding, domestic abuse, DAPA, IDVA or YPVA training would be advantageous.

An Enhanced DBS will be required for this role.
